Introduction of Tom Wellige  (Germany)
Modified By Tom Wellige on 6/6/2007 9:09:40 AM)

As host of this site I should also introduce myself.

My name is Tom. My career in the communication business started in 1986 where I joined the former "Deutsche Bundepost", nowadays Deutsche Telekom to become a telephone technician. I am in the computer / software business for quite some time, about 20 years. I have started with Z80 CPUs programed in assembly language. Later on followed by Pascal and C++. While studying "Communication Technologies" I'd founded my first own business to write and sell some MS DOS shareware applications. After graduation I moved more or less directly to Dortmund and learned lots of my current colleagues at ITK, an ISDN manufacturer. After spending some years with a consultant company where I wrote lots of banking software I hired at Swyx, seven years ago.

Within Swyx I managed the quality assurance, later on the customer support and am a consultant today. My job is to consult in special customer environments (mostly ecr) and SwyxWare integrations. Beside this some of Swyx's internal database systems are written and maintained by me.

So, to be honest: my Name is Tom and I am a Swyx-o-holic. Hello group !

During the last years I have published already some open source products (HPShell, UTE, just to name the most important ones) and I will definately extend this list, not only by Open Queue in the future

Re: Introduction of Tom Wellige  (Norway)

Tom, you must be kidding me! So you are the one behind UTE. I never noticed your name in that project before. I found UTE when I was searching for some ASP frontend for DB some time ago. I mostly use it to make test DB's and input data to them, often when trying out new ways to use the ECR.

It really is a small world.

Take care and I guess we'll meet sometime on some ocasion.

Re: Introduction of Tom Wellige  (Germany)

The world is most definately a small place. I had this feeling also already lots of times before.

I am pretty sure we will meet in person sooner or later. As a matter of fact I am currently learning norwegian in an evening school and be in Oslo most likey in October/November for some days of vacations (if Swyx doesn't sent me over earlier, which I wouldn't reject! - maybe you need an ecr trainer for your resellers?). I have just leanred that you will guide Uwe some days through Oslo. Don't miss to show him the way to Bugdoy and the Nobel museum

cu, Tom.
