Join or leave groups  (Austria)
Modified By Benjamin Kaineder on 5/30/2009 11:44:21 PM)

Is it possible that users join or leave groups by themselves? E.g. we have three sales groups and from time to time if there is a shortage of personal in one group some people should be able to join this group. Currently  we always have  to notify the admin to make membership changes.

br,
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin

It is possible to 'join/leave' groups in SwyxWare, but not in the way you think. The member will not be removed from the group itself or added. You achieve this by configuring the Lines key in SwyxIt! (or SwyxWare Administration) and it will work on SwyxPhones also. Configure a line key to only accept call from a specific group. It is important to have a couple of lines available for calls directly to the user also.

Right click on a line key in Swyxit! and select Properties, then configure the incoming calls. If you want to leave/join all groups on the same line you can choose: Only group calls.

When you want to 'leave' the group, just disable the corresponding line. In SwyxIt!, right click on the line and disable it. On SwyxPhones you hold down the line key for a certain period and disable it, the line key will flash while deactived.

There is one huge sideeffect of implementing leave/join of groups in this manner. The user needs a phone that supports the line configuration. That is only SwyxIt! and SwyxPhones. SIP and H.323 devices will not be able to leave/join groups.

Re: Join or leave groups  (Germany)

Hi,

another solution is to use our Call Queue Controller we use in Call Center scenarios. Here you can really log in and out users from groups with a web front end or with a speed dial button on your phone. The user is removed or added to the group just like you do this in swyxadmin.

Hi Frank

Do you have a trial version of this Call Queue Controller? I would like to check it out.

I found it on the 3iMedia website.

Re: Join or leave groups  (Germany)

Hi,

i have another problem with groups. We have two offices. Each office has two groups. The user should handle the groups of the office he is at the moment.

Office 1: Group1, Group2
Office 2: Group3, Group4

If the user is at office 1 he should activate the line with the groups of office 1 and deactivate the line with groups of office 2.

The question is, if there is a way to use one linekey for two groups? I tried and i just found the way to use all groups or just one group. It is not possible to enter the group numbers manually into this field.

Regards André
