Dial by Name  (Australia)

I’m trying to set up ‘dial by name’ for each user. Whilst this is relativity simple for SwyxIt! Users by using the recording feature, however I am not sure what to do for the CTI users?

Thanks in advance

Brian

Re: Dial by Name  (Norway)

Hi Brian

It will be a little time consuming, but here is how you do it.

1) Make a recording for each name you want to implement. Do this using the 'Record Note' in the 'Voicemail Inquiry' feature. On a SwyxPhone this is the first option you get when lifting the handset without dialling any number. If it is not set up correctly, you will get a message saying that no access to your inbox is possible. Ignore this, not important. When this message is finished, you will get into the main menu. Press 5 to record a note. Here you will read the name of the user. This will be sent as email to the address configured for the user you used when recording. Of course you can also use the Recorder in Windows and save the file.

2) After you have saved all the files for all the users, you will need to start the 'Recording Wizard' in SwyxIt! (Settings -> Recording Wizard...)

3) Click Next

4) On the Own Name page, press the 'Browse' button ( ... ) and select the file you recorded for this user. The voice file will now be imported and used as Own Name for the user.

Re: Dial by Name  (Australia)

Hi Morten

Thank you for your prompt answer.

I have attempted the procedure you outlined and whilst successful in recording the name.wav file for each user, which i was able to see in the database (file explorer). The name of the user does not register in the vanity dial option.

Is there some step I'm missing?

Regards

Brian

Re: Dial by Name  (Norway)

Did you import the wave file on the users SwyxIt! using the recording wizard? Does it work if you press record and reads the name directly (on a PC with microphone)? If yes, it seems like a bug, so that imported wave files are not recognized like recordings are.

Yes I did import the wave file on the users SwyxIt! using the recording wizard and yes it did work using a usb handset. I agree it seems to be a bug, what would you suggest as the next step?

Re: Dial by Name  (Norway)

You should contact your reseller. That will be the one you bought the system from. They will be able to escalate this as a support ticket at Swyx in Germany.
