Delay in clearing transferred calls  (United Kingdom)

Hi

I have a small problem in that a few of my users have reported that when they accept an incomming call an transfer it to another user.
After they click the "Call Transfer" button both lines show the red X symbol on them and this can remain on one or both lines for upto 10 seconds, and whilst these lines are showing the Xs they are unable to pick up another incoming call or place an external call.

System is  Swyx 6.02 MP1 with seperate swyxgate, this problem has been aparent since 6.01 and so far no hotfix or update has made any difference.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Regards
Steve

Re: Delay in clearing transferred calls  (Germany)

This is not a fixed timeout being somewhere configured, it's exactly the time it takes for the system to connect both lines with each other. There are a lot of things happening in the bacground. Both devices might have other audio settings, the the entire media stream will be initiated completely new.

If it takes time, too long time, it's a network issue or one of the two parties has a very slow machine (or both).

So, from the Swyx point of view there will be no hotfix but a suggestion to check what kid of client machines ar used, are they within the recommendations, and improve the machines if necessary.

Tom.

Re: Delay in clearing transferred calls  (Germany)

Hi Steve,

this is the normal and currently intended behavior of the client:

The line in focus (when you trigger the transfer) has a timeout of 10 seconds for switching from terminated to inactive. The other line (the line that was on hold) has a timeout of 4 seconds for switching from terminated to inactive.

The timeout is applied because it is not a "normal" disconnect but a "transferred" disconnect. So we want the user to be able to read the reason for the disconnect (transferred). I think it would be reasonable to change this for the next version SwyxIt! 6.12.

If you really need a shorter timeout, add a registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Swyx\Client Line Manager\CurrentVersion\Options

DWORD "BusyStateTimeout" and set it e.g. to 4   (seconds).

and a second value DWORD "TerminatedStateTimeout" and set it to e.g. 2 (seconds).

Best regards
Wolfgang Bruessler

Re: Delay in clearing transferred calls  (Norway)

The Wiki article about SwyxIt! and timers has been updated with these two timers discussed in this thread.
