Hello everbody !

I am very proud to announce the availability of the Conference Room Manager open source project on Swyx Forum.

The Conference Room Manager for SwyxWare allows users or administrators to setup Conferences based on the built-in Conference Function. An unlimited number of Conference Rooms can be booked through a customizable, Multilanguage-capable Webinterface that allows flexible setup of Conference Time, Users to invite and PINs.

General Features

  • Multilanguage Support via INI file, German and English included. Remembers the users’ selected language in a cookie.
  • Customizable Appearance (Templates based on XHTML and CSS)
  • Admin Interface to see all Conferences, PINs and the bookers’ eMail address. The Admin can delete Conferences and see current participants.

Booking System

  • Remembers Name and eMail Address of the user (Cookies)
  • Bookings can be made for the current day and any day in the future
  • Current participants can be viewed through the webinterface (only if the conference is active) by applying a PIN (Admin can always view the participants without applying a PIN) or through a link included in the invitation
  • eMail Confirmations / Invitation (Outlook / iCal) with booking information can be sent to users directly from the booking page. eMail includes a link to the “Current Participants” page that will also allow the see the participants after the conference is over (History).
  • Allows setting two different PINs for a) normal users and b) listeners only (One Way Conference)

Integration with Swyx

  • No interaction with the Swyx Database through PHP scripts, thus Swyx Database will not be manipulated or altered in any way
  • ECR script does only read from MySQL, insertions are made through HTTP calls

Planned Features / Changes

  • Booking: Allow user to set his own time zone
  • Booking: Real 12h/24h support
  • Booking: Update the time drop downs depending on the other drop down
  • User: Allow user to delete and edit conferences
  • Admin: Allow editing of bookings and resend invitation letters
  • Internal: improve error handling / input validation

I would like to use this announcement to thank Stephan for his great effort on initiating this project and to release it as open source. I am sure it will be highly welcomed by the community and it will evolve over the time.
