Dear Swyx Users
I’m sure all of you are aware of Skype or are even a Skype user yourself. But did you know that your SwyxWare IP-PBX can now also receive Skype calls? With a click2call button, millions of registered Skype users can reach your business for free directly from your website. The short screen cast below is providing you an overview on how to configure your Swyx Serve so, that your organization can receive incoming Skype calls on a standard Swyx phone.
To enable this feature, the following three steps have to be completed: 1. Register with Skype for Business and create a Skype for SIP account 2. Configure your Swyx Server 3. add a Skype click2call button to your website Additionally, I have also created a PDF document with print-screens of the SwyxWare configuration. Configuration hint: The file CustomProviderProfiles.config is located on the SwyxServer: C:/ProgrammFiles/SwyxWare. You can download the CustomProviderProfile including Skype for SIP Profile entry from here. Or just copy and paste the code below in your existing CustomProviderProfile <sp:SIPProviderProfile id="skyper" name="Skype for Sip reg" registrar="sip.skype.com" proxy="sip.skype.com" realm="sip.skype.com" stun="stun.2talk.co.nz" DtmfMode="Rfc2833_Event" UseDisplayInfo="true" CallingPartyNumberPositions="FromHeaderSIPURI" UseRegistration="true" UseOverlapDialing="false"> <sp:NumberFormats outbound_called="CanonicalWithoutPlus" outbound_calling="CanonicalWithoutPlus" inbound_called="CanonicalWithoutPlus" inbound_calling="CanonicalWithoutPlus" /> </sp:SIPProviderProfile>
Further information on HOW TO configure and adapt SIP Providers via Provider Profiles (kb3436) can be found here. Happy Swyxing and have a good weekend :- ) Cheers Mirjam Swyx Distributor New Zealand & Australia Tags: 13 comment(s) so far...

Re: Skype for Swyx Hi Robert,
Good, glad it was of help to your organization. Works really nice and one also can see now, which skype user actually called. The display name in SwyxIt! is: username.skype

Re: Skype for Swyx Hi Mirjam, nice instruction, thank you! Just one improvement: It would be better to create an own "CustomProviderProfiles.config" file instead of editing the "ProviderProfiles.config" system file. The reason is simple: the system file might be overwritten by future SwyxWare updates and you loose all your own changes. Therefoe use the CustomProviderProfiles.config for additonal own profiles, it will be used as in include file if it exists and all profiles there are listed additionally when you create a trunkgroup (restart of LinkManager service might be required). See www.swyx.com/support/ssdb.html?kbid=kb3436 (english) or www.swyx.de/support/ssdb.html?kbid=kb3436 (german) for more details.

Re: Skype for Swyx Dear Mirjam
Can you please give us a helping hand? We have a Swyxware Server 7.0 and we configured all well. That means the SIP Trunk is activated and online. The problem is really, that we can't see an online status on an external Skype client. Also of course we cannot call the SIP trunk. All settings on the Skype for SIP are well done?! Any suggestions to solve that issue?
Thanks and best regards,

Re: Skype for Swyx Hi Mirjam
Thanks for the docu, which I detected too late, so I figured it out by myself ;-) One remark to your profile, I think it is better to use Skype´s own STUN server (stun.skype.com) instead of stun.2talk.co.nz.
Best Regards Uwe

Re: Skype for Swyx Just recognized today all these posts here. For some reason I don’t get e-mail notification of any added comments !
To Andreas: You are right regadring the CustomProviderProfile, but in my docu I do say that one should modify or add a CustomProviderProfiles.config.
To Daniel: Does your problem still persist ? What do you exactly mean with “we can't see an online status on an external Skype client” ? Do you get an SIP Invite on your SwyxServer if a Skype user is calling your SIPtoSkype Account?
To Uwe: You may want to subscribe by RRS feed so you don’t miss other hints & tips ;- ) And of course you are absolutely right, Stun.skype.com is working fine !
Have a great weekend Mirjam

Re: Skype for Swyx Hi Mirjam,

What's about licensens for Swyx? (Speech channel).
Thanks, Oliver By Jumo on

Re: Skype for Swyx Hi, Skype advises to use no stun server. And you should use CanonicalWithPlus instead of CanonicalWithoutPlus:

Re: Skype for Swyx Hallo,
ich habe es heute mit Swyxware 2011 eingerichtet und es funktioniert ohen Probleme. Als Nummernsformattierung habe ich "Canonical without Plus" verwendet und kein STUN-Server registriert.
