The reason are these configuration options: The Power Controls configuration allows for two values for each option, e.g. the "pause button" control can be set to The important difference is that Support guest let's the VMWare Tools on the guest run the appropriate script which release the IP-Address. Same for the "Play" control. That's far from intuitive. At least it's mentioned in the help file. But who reads documentation anyway  *) This is not officially supported.
