In 2005 the big slogan was Swyx is the king in LAN telephony. As you have already seen on the pictures from 2006 the main color of Swyx was red for a long time.

In 2006 Swyx opened with the slogan The last telephony system you'll ever need.

The booth was acutally quite nice, especially the catering area in the background was really enjoyable ;-)

Today is one of these Mondays again. After a night with only a few ours of sleep, because I have a cold, I decided to go the office early. Upon arriving I learned that our main development server is not accessible. It hosts Team Foundation Server, which is our main source code repository. Our team's sharepoint website, which has all the development documents (specifications, etc) is located there, too.

A few minutes ago the first of our IT guys arrived. He couldn't access the server, too, neither remote nor from the console in the server room. After rebooting it he learned that the file system on the system partition is corrupt and Windows does not boot . But on the other hand we will now have the chance to check if our regular backups are working .

You probably do not know this, but it is quite a big thing in Oslo. In a couple of months the new Opera house will open the doors to the public.

Naturally the newspapers are writing about this event, and about whom that will ever visit this part of the cultural world. So who is the typical audience for the world of Opera? According to the same newspapers there have been some resistance to the whole Opera house project. It is expensive and they claim it will be the playground for the elite, the upper class of society.

That cought my attention immidiatly. Would that be all it takes? Would listen to opera make me become one of the upper class of society? I could not make this tempring thought leave my mind.

So, one day a couple of months ago it happened. While standing in line at the cashier in the local and quote dull supermarket something made my heart beat a little faster. Could it be? After all this time wondering how to enter this wonderful cultural world of the elite. I picked...

As I am a child of the 70's I grew up with the Jim Henson's 'The Muppet Show'.

Every sunday afternnon my brother, my father and I had a fixed appointment with the TV. We all loved it. My absolute favoriute was and still is Fozzy Bear and his never ending struggle to become a funny comedian, well at least a comedian.

There are so many famous quotes of him, just like when he was driving along with Kermit in his Studebaker through the Rocky Mountains and watching the terrific nature: "Ahh, the natural habitat of a bear - a Studebaker".

One of his best performances on the stage is the following (I still remember couldn't stop laughing when seeing it the first time):

So, this is my delayed friday fun blog for you guys

Heute Abend, 12.02.2008, läuft um 20:15 Uhr im BR-TV (3. PRogramm) die Münchner Runde mit dem Thema

Doch mehr Soldaten nach Afghanistan ?

Teilnehmer der Diskussion sind:

  • Peter Scholl Latour

I can't wait to see this movie

Video: Yellow Harvest

Today, 30 years ago Star Wars Episode IV, "A New Hope" was released in Germany. George Lucas took a great risk. Sci-Fi movies were not very popular in the 1970s and the three leading roles were played by unknown actors. But it was a great success. It held a 20 year record from 1977-1997 as the highest-grossing box office film in US history until Titanic. And Lucas was smart in negotiating with 20th Century Fox. Instead of asking for a lot of money he insisted on getting 40% of the net box-office gross, all rights to future sequels and ownership of all the merchandising rights associated with Star Wars. It made him a multi millionaire.

I was too young to see Episode IV in cinema in 1978, but I clearly remember seeing Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back in our local movie theater in 1980. IMHO Episode V still is the best of all six Star Wars movies.

May the force be with you...

This is my contribution to the funny Friday posts:

Hey, it's friday afternoon ! You know what that means

Ever wondered how the big movie companies make their money and what happens if there is a "shortage" in revenue ?

Well, here is a nice little movie showing the real world of making animation movies:

The movie loads a little bit slowly but it's worth waiting for it !

Maybe it's a good idea to ask the manager of your favorite super market to play domino with you !

This is how that could look like:

Just a hint: you should definately ask before start setting up the "domino stones" (unless you do not intend to visit this super market again).

The only valid measurement of code quality: WTFs per minute:

It's a little late for a funny Friday post, but this is too good to miss:
